True Blue NOTD!

Blair Fowler's blog post inspired me to do my nails today. (: They didn't turn out as well as I hoped, and I'm probably going to redo them in a few days, but I still like the concept.

I didn't intend to do the same color scheme as in the blog post, but the nail polish I have worked for it. I originally tried to do a gradient effect on each nail, but it didn't turn out well, so I just did a slightly different color on every nail. Hope you guys like it! :D

Newspaper NOTD!

I was talking to somebody this week that had newspaper print all over her nails, so I asked her how she did it. She briefed me, and I came home and found this tutorial.

*images are from the tutorial, mine were a different base color*
Here's how mine turned out:

Sorry the second picture's blurry; there wasn't much that I could do about it. The rubbing alcohol dried my hands out, but they should be fine after some cuticle oil tonight. (: I have the sudden urge to expand my collection of lighter nail polishes. I heard that Sinful Colors has a bunch of new pastels. I think I'm going to have to check them out! :D

Elle's Question Tag

1. What do you think you can do but can't?
I always think that one more try will make me able to curl my hair, but it never works.
2. What's a difficult word for you to pronounce?
I'm pretty good with English, but Spanish words are a whole other story.
3. What is a favorite TV show from your childhood?
Rugrats and Rocket Power! I love, correction, I still love them. :D
4. What are your virtues and vices?
My greatest virtue would probably be that I'm pretty nice to people. I hate confrontations, and I usually get over being mad without even telling them that I'm mad.
My greatest vice is that I overreact a lot.
5. What's more important: love, fame, power, or money?
Love. That's a no-brainer for me. ♥
6. If you could live in any era/time period, when would it be and why?
Biblical times, the Italian Renaissance, the 60's through the 80's (I just love that music!). Yeah, I can't rally decide.
7. If you had to redo your entire wardrobe with 2 stores, what would they be and why?
Nordstrom and Forever 21! Nordstrom has cosmetics and cute clothes, and Forever 21 is just amazing!
8. Can you recall what you were doing a year ago on this day?
I most likely had school, tennis practice, and then church. Possibly some sort of band practice.
9. Do you have reoccurring dreams? If so, explain?
If I do, I don't remember them. I usually can't remember my dreams...
10. What's your horoscope?
Gemini, which is pretty ironic. The Gemini constellation is twins, but I don't have any siblings.
11. What does your dream bedroom look like?
I used to be in love with the Clique series, and I fell in love with the idea of Massie's room. So I guess a white room with random purple accents. Something I'd change from her room though: I love putting stuff on my walls (posters, pictures, my bulletin board etc.), so I'd put stuff all over the walls of my otherwise white and purple room.
12. What position do you sleep in?
Curled up on my side.
13. Who is your favorite vampire of all time?
I'm not a big vampire fan, but if I have to pick I guess Alice Cullen.
14. What are you currently wearing on your feet?
Essie's California Coral nail polish. (:
15. Do you have neat handwriting? Show us!

P.S. Like my cute stationary?? :D

Not Quite a Teeny Weeny Yellow Polka Dot Bikini...

I got a new bathing suit today!! :D

I got it from a local outlet store (unnamed because it's local...) for $20 bucks, top and bottom! I tried on like five, and I'm really glad I saw this one because the other ones just didn't fit right. I especially like this one because of all the different patterns, mainly the butterflies. (My name means butterfly). This wasn't intended to be a long post, I just wanted to show you guys my most exciting purchase in weeks, possibly months. Spring, here I come! Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ

Haul & Review

I went to Dollar Tree last weekend for some wrapping paper, and I came out with some eyelashes and nail polish. Imagine that. The nail polish was Atomic by L.A. Colors, and the eyelashes were the E.L.F. Individual Lash Kit.

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to try out the eyelashes when I wanted to. I have to go get some eyelash glue; the glue that came with it was inadequate for gluing. In fact, I can't quite think of that good that glue would do as anything other than looking like cottage cheese. I will review the nail polish, though. (: I've been wanting a teal color for a while now, and when I saw this, I said why not. It was only a dollar. A dollar well spent, at that. I put it on my nails last Thursday with a base and top coat, and it's still in a somewhat-suitable conditions right now. There are some chips. I'd actually be shocked if there weren't any, considering that I'm a teenage girl and I'm always using my nails to open something or to text. I do that a lot. It's weird though, there are more chips around my cuticles than there are at the end of my nails. I haven't found a reason for that yet, but then again, I don't care all that much. If you're looking for a cheap nail polish in a cute color that doesn't chip like crazy, I say go down to Dollar Tree and look for this. They had more pretty colors too, but I only had a few dollars with me, so I didn't get them. My rating: **** (the highest rating being 5 stars).
I also got some new foundation this week. It's the Maybelline Fit Me (I got it in color 220). Walgreens had all of the Fit Me line on sale last week at 40% off, buy one get one half off, and I had a dollar off cupon. I ended up getting 2 foundations cheaper than I would have got one at regular price.

It has SPF 18 in it, which is really good for me because I have tennis practice for about 2 hours every day, and I don't want skin cancer. The foundation goes on really nicely and doesn't cake up. It's great for sheer coverage, but I usually notice that it wears off throughout the day, and I end up applying some powder foundation. My rating would probably be ***. It's a decent foundation, and I'm going to use both bottles, but I still like my Revlon Colorstay better.
I'll post another review after I get a chance to try the eyelashes out. (: I'll also post pictures if I find a cute bathing suit when I'm shopping tomorrow!! :D

Fashion vs. Fashion

I tried to publish this post on Saturday, but my computer has a mind of its own, and it decided to royally mess my internet up. So fashion is interpreted differently in different places. In NYC, this is normal, this is NYC's "fashion"

I love Aria Montgomery's style from Pretty Little Liars, but, where I live, it isn't common to see people wearing either of those styles.

I live in a very country town, and people here are more into rhinestone cowhide belts than oversize belts, and most of the boots around here are cowboy boots.

I personally don't own a rhinestone belt (although I do want one!), but I also like "fashion" from other places. What about you, what do you think about the different styles and fashions? I can imagine someone's reaction to the style in my town if they're used to being in LA or NYC. I love NYC fashion, but I also think that country style is cute too.
I thought that this would be an interesting thing to blog about. (: Tell me if you'd like to see another post like this one!

I've Got a Sick Obsession...

I tend to have periods of time where I focus on one part of the beauty world. For the past couple of weeks, it's been nails. I've literally been obsessed with painting my nails lately, and reading Drop Dead, Gorgeous' blog has given me more inspiration. Her blog post today was about water marbling her nails. I really want to try that this weekend, and I'll post pics if I do.
In the past few weeks, my nails have had a frenched, pained gold, black, red, periwinkle, and for a few days a clear coat. I usually only do my nails once ever couple of weeks, but as I said, I've been obsessed with doing my nails lately.
Here's a list of some of my favorite nail polish shades:
-Essie's California Coral
-Isadora's Porcelain
-Wet n' Wild's Rain Check
-Sinful Colors' This is It (MJ inspired, possibly?)
-OPI's Lincoln Park After Dark
I have yet to purchase Lincoln Park After Dark, but I got a mani with it and i loved it. (: I also really want some more Sinful Colors polishes, because they have amazing colors and they're only $2 a bottle! I want Midnight Blue, Aqua, Under 18, Coco Diamond, and Let's Talk. I just realized that I'm really into bright and metallic polishes lately. For a while I only used neutral and dark colors. Hmm, maybe it's because I know that it's almost spring!! :D
Feel free to comment with any of your favorite nail tips, tricks, or colors. (:

I Swear, this Time I Mean it.

I'm done going months (almost a year?) without blogging. I'm gonna try my very hardest not to do that again.
I'm so excited, spring's almost here!! That means short shorts, wayfarers, flip-flops, and bikinis! :D Now, I'm a person who LOVES to make shopping lists. I don't know why, it's just exciting for me to think about shopping. Here's my spring 2011 shopping list:
-Toms
-Bandeau bikini
-Henleys
-Old Navy flip-flops
-Rhinestone belt
-Brighton (or Pandora) charm bracelet
I think I'm most excited about the TOMS. In case you haven't heard of them, the company gives a pair of shoes to kids in need every time you buy a pair. How cool is that? Oh, and they look something like this...

I've wanted a pair since last summer. Practically every counselor at the summer camp I went to had a pair, and I totally fell in love with them. TOMS also makes vegan shoes!! I'm not a vegan (or a vegetarian at that) but if I were, I would be ALL OVER that website.
Oh, speaking of really cool stuff that helps out children living in poverty, I got the coolest bracelet at Forever 21 a couple months ago. It says "FEED," it was $5, and it gave 2 school lunches to kids in other countries. They look just like that lovely picture over there. I got one of the black bracelets, so I gave lunches to kids in Kenya (the different colors are for different countries). I'm not quite sure if they're available anymore, though.
I'm not very talented at writing endings for anything, including blog posts, so I hope you enjoy.
